A LOOK AT SOME SAMPLES
IF YOU FIND ANY OF THE
FOLLOWING INFORMATION CONFUSING OR OVER YOUR HEAD PLEASE CALL! WE'LL GLADLY
EXPLAIN IN ENGLISH.
We can accept customer supplied artwork as either Digital
Artwork or Camera-Ready Artwork.
Listed below are our guidelines for supplied art. In some cases there
are exceptions to these guidelines. If you have any questions about your
artwork you can contact our Art Department at artdept@screenitltd.com
or call 518-272-1606 during business hours.
Digital artwork can be submitted on CD, Zip Disk
(100mb), 3.5" Floppy Disk, and e-mail. It's a good idea to provide
a hard copy of the artwork for reference whenever possible, even if the
colors are not accurate. We are currently using PC (Windows) format computers
only, but in many cases we can work with your Mac format files provided
they are not submitted on a Mac formatted disc. For more on this issue
Our supported applications are Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe
Photoshop. We will not accept native files from any other software, but
we can accept .PDF's and .EPS's. In most cases we can also
accept these formats: .TIF .WMF .BMP .GIF .PS .PRN .JPG (note:
.JPG is a compressed format designed for the web and it compromises quality!
If you must save your artwork as a .JPG to save space, save it at the
maximum quality possible)
If you do not have the software listed above or are unable to create a
.PDF you can try creating a .PS or .PRN file. The
.PS and .PRN formats are postscript files that can be created
from any software by checking the "Print to File" box before
printing. This simply saves the information normally sent to your printer
as a separate file that we can often convert to a usable format here.
Font related issues are a common hold up. Always provide a copy
of the fonts used even if they are known to be common fonts. We
only accept True Type fonts. To avoid font problems all-together be sure
to covert all type to shapes in your layout software, or check "include
fonts" when saving as a .EPS or .PDF. For more on coverting type
to shapes click here.
For text and line art we recommend using Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw,
or other vector based layout software. Vector art creates much cleaner
lines and provides the best results for screen printing.
For photo art (or "bitmapped" art) we accept bitmap (2 color),
grayscale, duo-tone, and CMYK images. Each has its own specs:
BITMAP: 600 dpi or greater at full size
GRAYSCALE AND DUO-TONE: 300 dpi or greater at full size
CMKY: 150 dpi or greater at full size. Should be used for process
printing only.
NON 4 COLOR PROCESS ORDERS: It is important that
your camera-ready artwork is clean black and white with sharp, clean edges
and all seperations are on seperate pages. All halftones must be at 50
lpi or less.
4 COLOR PROCESS ORDERS: Make sure your artwork is as clean and
clear as possible.
If your art is has more than one color it is important that your camera-ready
artwork is properly separated. There can be no overlap or trapping. Crop
marks or registration marks are not necessary, but are a great help to
us.
